Mr Kuroki, planted a lush carpet of thousands of beautiful-smelling flowers so his wife could enjoy their garden again.

Mr Kuroki wanted to make his beloved smile after she lost her eyesight aged 52.

After going blind, Mrs Kuroki became withdrawn and depressed, often not wanting to leave the house.

While pondering this in his garden, he spotted a pink shibazakura flower growing and realised it wasn’t just stunning to look at, but also lovely to smell.
