The brutally beaten body of a dead woman hanging from a fence was initially dismissed by neighbors as a gory Halloween decoration.

The brutally beaten body of a dead woman hanging from a fence in Ohio, USA was initially dismissed by neighbors as a gory Halloween decoration.

But when a man walking his dog saw that it was actually real, he called police on Tuesday morning.

Rebecca Cade’s body had first been mistaken for a Halloween decoration because her body was so badly beaten that it was difficult to tell whether the body was male or female.

Evidence found at the scene revealed the circumstances behind the brutal death. A trail of blood showed where the victim had tried to escape from her attacker. When she had tried to jump a fence, her clothing caught.

Cade remained suspended from the fence and died there.

She suffered a blunt-force trauma to the head and neck after being bludgeoned with a rock and beaten beyond recognition , said Police Chief Keith Washburn.

Tammy Dixon, who lives near where the body was found, thought the body was a fake zombie at first, but was horrified to discover the truth.

She told WCPO: 'It was straight out of a horror story. It was the worst Halloween scene you could imagine.'

Donnie Cochenour Jr has been arrested and charged with Rebecca Cade’s death.

Police made the following statement: ‘Mr. Cochenour was taken into custody at approximately 6:15pm, without incident.

‘He is currently being held without bond, in the Ross County Jail on one count of murder and will make an initial appearance in Chillicothe Municipal Court soon.
