An Ota Magistrates' Court in Ogun has slammed a N100, 000 bail on a 23-year-old man, Adebisi Appiah, for allegedly breaking into a house and stealing a purse containing N78,000.

The accused was also granted two sureties who should his parent or guardian and a civil servant of not less than Grade Level 08 in the Ogun State Civil Service.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Cpl. Abdulkareem Mustapha, told the court that the accused committed the offences on March 9 at about 2.09 p.m. at Oko-Ewe, Jacross, Iyana-Iyesi, Ota.

Mustapha alleged that the accused broke into a house and stole a purse containing N78, 000.

"The accused removed the money and threw away the purse.''

The offences contravened Sections 390, 411, 412 and 413 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs A.I. Adelaja, adjourned the case to April 20 for hearing.
