Nigerian man who killed police officer executed in Saudi Arabia

A Nigerian who killed a police officer in Saudi Arabia has been executed by that country's authorities.

Houssawi was put to death on Sunday, May 29, after the court convicted him for the murder of the officer after it was proven that of he had strangling the policeman and beat his head against the ground until he died, an official of the Interior Ministry said.

According to Amnesty International, the execution of Houssawi, was the 95th execution this year alone in the ultra-conservative Muslim kingdom, which imposes the death penalty for offences including murder, drug trafficking, armed robbery, rape and apostasy.

He was executed in the western city of Taif, the ministry said in a statement carried by the official SPA news agency.
