Nigerian movie breaks box office record, makes N20m in holiday weekend

The much talked about movie "Fifty" has emerged as the highest ever opening weekend in Nigerian cinema release, Set to hit N50m in 2 week and N100m in 4 weeks.

Get over "Star Wars: The Force Awakens,""Alvin and the Chipmunks", as Nigerian movie is breaking all records at the Nigerian box office against all odds.

The movie made N20m in a holiday weekend, emerging the highest ever weekend for a Nigerian film.

The movie which chronicles the lives of four fifty-year old women living in Lagos, has triumphed gallantly at the box office, consistently selling out shows in Ikeja, Abuja, Surulere, Lekki, Ibadan, Akure and other locations across the country.

For recording the highest-grossing opening weekend for any Nigerian film, "Fifty" is now certified as the Number 1 Nigerian film of the year, with Box Office analysts predicting that it should end in over N100m by the end of January 2016, a conservative projection based on the traditionally slow January period.
