The actress, joins the likes of Jada Pinkett Smith, Idris Elba and Snoop Dogg who are now calling for a radical change in the Academy's board. According to her, the Oscars should be a universal body which celebrates art, stories and story tellers and not a forum to which a certain race gets all the glory.

The Oscar winner took to her Instagram on January 20 posting a powerful message about the change needed at the Oscars:

"Not everything that is faced can be changed. But nothing can be changed until it is faced." - James Baldwin ," she captioned.
