The mother-of-3 had been discovered by twice divorced Angelil at age 12, when he had seen her talent and had taken her on, becoming her mentor/manager.

News reports had revealed that Angelil had mortgaged his home in 1981 to fund her first record, 'La Voix du bon dieu'.

The pair had later made their relationship public in 1993, before getting married the following year.

The couple share twins Eddy and Nelson, 5, and son René-Charles Jr., 15, before his death at 72 on January 14, 2016 after a prolonged battle with cancer.

Celine and Angelil had celebrated their 21st wedding anniversary in December 2015.
