LAUTECH students protest increment of their school fees to N250k
The new tuition fee will take effect from the 2018/19 session.
The students armed with placards with different inscriptions rejected the hike on Tuesday, October 16, 2018. Some of the placards read; ''education is our right we say no to hike'' ''65k to 250k ko le work'' ''save LAUTECH'' and so on.
The protest according to Punch was peaceful as policemen monitored the situation to prevent hoodlums from hijacking it.
Recall that Pulse reported on Tuesday, October 16, 2018, that the management of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) officially increased school fees by over 100 per cent
With new the tuition, returning students who are indigenes of Oyo and Osun state will be paying N200,000 while non-indigenes are to pay N250,000.
According to Premium Times, the new is against the N63,500 for returning students who are indigenes of Oyo and Osun states and N72,500 for non-indigenes.
Announcing the increase in an email sent to the students on Monday, October 15, 2018, the school authorities said the hike will take effect from the 2018/19 session.
Ladoke Akintola University was established in 1990 by the government of Oyo and Osun state.
