According to reports, residents were angered by the church’s attitude towards the incident as officials refused to call for rescue operations hours after the collapse

The photos above are from the collapse of a one-storey building belonging to a church - Christ Chosen Church of God, Edo state.

The incident which occurred on September 19, claimed the lives of three people who were working at the site when the building caved in and 5 people were rescued from the remains.

According to reports, residents were angered by the church’s attitude towards the incident as officials refused to call for rescue operations hours after the collapse.

Residents blamed the church for using individuals to destroy the building instead of hiring a bulldozer.

It was gathered that a bus belonging to the church was set ablaze, while the youths vandalized the church properties.

Officials of the church reportedly ran away after the building came down.

The building was said to have served as offices and residential building for the church officials.

About nine  workers were said to be working inside the church, but three went out to buy food few minutes before the incident.
