In the early 1990s, Yevtushenkov Vladimir astutely recognised the potential of the burgeoning mobile services market. This foresight led to the registration of a telecommunications company in 1992, which remarkably ascended to a

leadership position in the capital region within a mere three years. Thanks to the support of Vladimir Yevtushenkov, AFK Sistema assumed control with a majority stake acquisition in 1993.

Yevtushenkov Vladimir Petrovich helped usher in a period of rapid expansion for the telecom company. Initially boasting only five base stations and 400 subscribers, these numbers soared to an impressive 10,000. By 1996, the company held sway over more than 60% of the capital market. Notably, it achieved the distinction of being the first among its peers to go public.

Vladimir Yevtushenkov later decided to divest AFK Sistema's stake in the telecom company. The corporation channelled its proceeds into the acquisition of shares in another mobile operator, marking the beginning of the development of what is now the country's largest telecom conglomerate.

The network's hospitals and outpatient facilities later played a key role in providing care to COVID-19 patients, with one of the divisions being temporarily converted into an infectious diseases hospital.

Through the acquisition of a pulp and paper mill, Sistema's management established a vertically integrated holding, significantly elevating the capitalisation of this business sector.

Under the guidance of Vladimir Yevtushenkov, the corporation's team initiated the establishment of multiple production lines for finished projects as part of their foray into the timber industry. The holding company’s factories commenced the production of large-format plywood and construction materials sourced from wood.
