The Swede joined Manchester United in 2016 on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain and is currently the highest goalscorer at the club this season with 26 goals in all competitions so far.
Following his impressive performance this season, Manchester United have started making moves to keep the striker for another year but there is a possibility that he might leave for America this summer.
"There have been conversations and, I think, a relationship for some time regarding this possible move,” Lalas, who left the Galaxy in 2014 told .
"The Galaxy are Major League Soccer's 'super club'. They do big, bold things.
“They have sexy signings, that's what they have built themselves as, that's what they sell themselves as, and this type of signing would fall right into play with that.”
Lalas also believes that a move to the MLS would be beneficial to Ibrahimovic.
"It is also that you get to expand that brand in a market that continues to get bigger and bigger,” he added.
Ibrahimovic has played and won league titles in all but one of the five countries he has played before he moved to Manchester United.
He has already won the League Cup at Manchester United and currently has a chance to win the Europa League.
They face Chelsea in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup while it’s almost impossible for them to win the Premier League title this season.
