'I'd Rather Die ... But I Can't Challenge Pres. Jonathan' — Sen. Enang

A Senator representing Uyo Senatorial district of Akwa Ibom State, Ita Solomon Enang, has come out to debunk reports that he allowed the relocation of a Federal polytechnic in his state to further his political ambitions.

The allegations emerged after the Federal Polytechnic, from his hometown, Ibiono Ibom, to governor Godswill Akpabio's hometown, Ukana.

Enang reportedly silently sanction the relocation in order to secure a second tenure in the Senate come 2015.

He has however debunked the rumors  while addressing journalists over the matter on Monday.

The senator told newsmen that he would rather chose death than assist in facilitating the relocation of the polytechnic from his hometown.

“It would be foolhardy of any man even at the point of death to trade such a project for anything.

Even if I were at the point of death and I was asked to do that as a last wish to live, I would have preferred to die," Enang said,

The Presidential Connection

Enang revealed that he failed to foil the move because it was ordered by President Goodluck Jonathan.

He argues that he could not challenge the Federal government's decision.

"But I will not also challenge the decision of the President in that direction."

The senator said with "the goodwill of the President, there is hope that more things are coming to the state" adding that "wherever the institution is sited, it is still in our state."
