Tosin Kehinde outshines Stephen Odey as 5th consecutive win sends Randers top of the league

Nigerian-born midfielder Tosin Kehinde was on the scoreboard on Sunday afternoon as Danish league leaders Randers kept up their supremacy with a victory.

Kehinde scored three minutes into the second half to give Randers the lead away at Lyngby, marking the midfielder's first goal of the 2022/23 Danish SuperLiga season.

Randers' victory was their fifth consecutive win in the league, bouncing back after securing three draws in their first three matches of the season.

Seeking to climb to the top of the league pending Nordsjalland's Monday match, Randers started with Stephen Odey and Filip Bundgaard while Tosin Kehinde started in midfield.

Playing away to bottom-placed Lyngby at the Lyngby Stadium, Randers took the game to their hosts but failed to find the back of the net in the first period.

Randers' shots finally paid off in the 48th minute, as Kehinde fed off Bjorn Kopplin's assist to break the deadlock for the Thomas Thomasberg-led side.

Randers' kept up the pressure and also had to defend against a late onslaught by Lyngby as the hosts threatened an equaliser. 

It was Randers that had the last say in the match though, as Edgar Babayan doubled the visitors' goal tally in the 4th minute of added time to secure a 2-0 victory for Randers.

Of the two Nigerian-born players in the Randers' team, Kehinde was the more effective, laying off 15 accurate passes at an accuracy rate of 75% as well as playing three (3) key passes and creating one (1) big chance.

The 24-year-old midfielder attempted four (4) long balls, four (4) crosses, two (2) shots on target, one (1) off target, and completed both of his attempted dribbles.

Kehinde also won six (6) of the seven (7) duels he contested while making one (1) interception, and two (2) tackles in his 72 minutes of action.

On the other hand, Stephen Odey failed to register any shot all match till he was replaced by Daniel Hoegh in the 83rd minute.
