FIFA confirms referees for World Cup qualifiers against Ghana
FIFA has confirmed that Redouane Jiyed and Sadok Selmi will referees will take charge of the Super Eagles crucial World Cup Playoffs tie against Ghana at the end of the month.
Moroccan referee Redouane Jiyed will referee the first leg of the match at Ghana's Cape Coast stadium Friday, March 25, 2022 at the Cape Coast stadium.
The 42-year-old match official took charge of the 3rd place play-off game between Burkina Faso and Cameroon at the Stade Ahmadou Ahidjo in Yaounde at the 2021 AFCON.
Tunisia's Sadok Selmi has been designated to officiate the second leg where the Super Eagles host the Black Stars at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja on, March 29, 2022.
Selmi also officiated at this year's AFCON in Cameroon where he handled two group stage games.
Rumors had emerged last week, that FIFA had been considering using foreign referees for this game. The new development is likely as a result of CAF intervention,as the body said the Africa has enough qualified referees with high integrity to officiate the crucial match.
