'Don't use us to campaign' - Nigerians react to Atiku Abubakar's tweet following Arsenal's win against Chelsea
Arsenal recorded a crucial 1-0 victory against Chelsea on Sunday, November 6, 2022, in the Premier League.
A second-half strike from Gabriel Magalhaes was enough to give the visitors all three points at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
Following the victory for Mikel Arteta's men, the Presidential flagbearer for the People's Democratic Party in Nigeria and former Vice President Alhaji Atiku Abubakar took to social media to hail his favourite club after the win.
Taking to his official Twitter, Atiku wrote: "Great win, Arsenal, even after a goalless first half. As Arsenal did in this game for we, the fans, we will also Recover Nigeria for Nigerians. -AA"
However, his post was met with mixed reactions on Sunday as Nigerians on social media wasted no time in replying to the PDP Presidential candidate.
The 75-year-old politician and businessman, who is currently aiming to be Nigeria's next president is a huge fan of the West London club and would no doubt be fancying his club's chances of winning the Premier League this season as they currently lead the summit.
But some Nigerians on social media had a few words to say about his message on Sunday, in which he projected Arsenal's victory at Stamford Bridge on the 2023 General Elections in March.
Here's how Nigerians have reacted below:
Meanwhile, Arsenal return to action on Wednesday, November 9, 2022, when they take on Brighton Hove Albion in the FA Cup.
