The result means the top half of the WTA International event's draw in Washington is unseeded, with Jovanovski set to take on New Zealand's Marina Erakovic in the quarter-finals.

Erakovic posted a 6-2 6-2 win over American wildcard Shelby Rogers to move into the last eight.

France's Kristina Mladenovic, who ousted top seed Lucie Safarova in the first round, continued her run at the hard-court tournament, defeating American qualifier Taylor Townsend 6-3 6-4.

Next for Mladenovic will be Japan's Kurumi Nara, who advanced to the quarters after her opponent - Zarina Diyas of Kazakhstan - pulled out midway through the third set.
