Scotland confirm June Tests in Japan
Japan will be given the opportunity to build on their superb showing at the Rugby World Cup when they renew accquaintances with Scotland in two home Tests next June.
Scotland were the only team to beat the Brave Blossoms at the World Cup, running out 45-10 winners at Gloucester's Kingsholm ground in a match played just four days on from Japan's stunning victory over two-time champions South Africa.
That success for Vern Cotter's side extended Scotland's 100 per cent record in Tests against Japan, although the teams have yet to meet in a full-cap international on Japanese soil.
"We’re pleased to confirm our 2016 summer tour will take us to Japan, where our players will enjoy a stern assessment from one of the most improved teams in the world," said Cotter.
"Japan are forging a very strong rugby culture and will be boosted by the inclusion of a Japanese franchise in Super Rugby for the first time that year, all of which will combine to create a very testing environment for our touring group of players."
Venues and times for the matches, which are set to take place on June 18 and 25, have yet to be announced.
