Loose Kaynon has announced the return of the Lagos freestyle event, Wax Lyrical.
Hosted by the Chocolate City rapper, Wax Lyrical which is a Hip-hop centric freestyle event on the Nigerian Hip-Hop scene and a platform aimed at celebrating and promoting Hip Hop through a hybrid of local and pop- culture, has been on hiatus since 2013.
But it is set for a relaunch which will feature unrehearsed rap battles from amateur, established or veteran word smiths, over popular hip-hop beats, in front of an unbiased and unforgiving crowd of hip-hop enthusiasts.
Apart from entertaining and further promoting the hip-hop industry (music, fashion, graffiti etc.), the main goal of the show, according to organisers, “is to be “the” stage that discovers rookies who go on to become rap-gods.”
A few of the artistes who have gone on to become formidable rap forces were once amateurs on the Wax Lyrical floor; Phenom, Lil Kesh, Base One and Olamide have all participated in the show.
The official re-launch edition takes place on Monday, July 18, 2016 at Fuze Sport Bar - 46, Saka Tinubu, Victoria Island, Lagos and will be headlined by Africa’s top rap group; Show Dem Camp. The event starts at 7pm and is open to Hip-hop fans and rap lovers.
