Boko Haram has taken control of yet another town in Borno State, reports say.
The sect is said to have conquered Lassa town in the Askira/Uba Local Government Area of the state on Sunday, November 30.
The residents initially resisted the terrorists by fighting them with locally made rifles and bows and arrows but their weapons were no match for the superior fire power unleashed by the insurgents, Leadership reports.
The terrorists reportedly killed many people and destroyed homes and places of worship during the attack.
Boko Haram is said to have also declared the newly conquered town as part of its caliphate.
The Governor of Borno State, Kashim Shettimahad earlier raised an alarm that Boko Haram had captured 8 Local Government Areas in the state and was making moves to capture even more.
