Singer stuns crowd with historic 2-hour performance in first ever Lagos concert

Asa has held her first ever concert in Lagos.

The soul singer who grew up in the Nigerian megacity, but later relocated to Europe, had risen to the heights of world music. But never has she held a personal concert in her hometown from which she has drawn inspiration for her career hits.

All that has changed as the singer ended that in style. Tagged ‘Asa Live in Concert’, the event held at the Eko Hotels & Suits, Victoria Island, Lagos, on May 1, 2016.

Olisa Adibua handled host duties for the night.

Performances on the night were few and far between, with 5 opening acts carefully selected to bring on a night of live music. Isaac Geralds, Falana, Rachel Kerr, Bez and Kaliné all prepped the crowds with singing and instrumentation.

Asa got on stage, and in an epic performance played a 2-hour set from her extensive discography of three albums. Major hits included ‘Bed of Stone’, ‘Jailer’, ‘Bibanke’ and ‘Fire on the mountain’. There was also a duet with Cobhams, were the pair covered Beyonce’s ‘Halo’.
