Only last month Azhar threatened to resign as ODI captain due to the presence of paceman Amir in a training camp ahead of the tour to New Zealand.

Azhar and Mohammad Hafeez were not prepared to join up with the squad while Amir was there due to his part in the spot-fixing scandal which resulted in him being banned for five years and serving a prison sentence.

But Azhar agreed to stay on as skipper and is looking to the future, with Amir set to feature in the ODIs against the Black Caps after making his return in the Twenty20 series this month.

He said: "Whatever my stance was, my job is to lead this side and keep harmony in the dressing room. We are all united and keen for this challenge."

Asked why his stance had changed, Azhar said: "We should not discuss more about it. We've moved on."

The first ODI in the three-match series is staged at the Basin Reserve on Monday.
