Mathis was surprisingly released by the Philadelphia Eagles earlier this off-season after being named to back-to-back Pro Bowls.

He wanted a new contract and the Eagles were unable to find a trade partner, so he was ultimately cut loose.

The 33-year-old's Broncos deal could reportedly be worth as much as $4million.

Mathis was in line to earn up to $6.5million this season had he remained with the Eagles.

Many other teams were interested in his services, including the Seattle Seahawks, Kansas City Chiefs, Chicago Bears and Miami Dolphins.

Mathis' agent Drew Rosenhaus said earlier this week that his client would sign some time this week and he was right.

Mathis wanted to be on a contending team, and the Broncos are just that.

He will join a solid offensive line group that already has former Pro Bowler Louis Vasquez, 2014 Pro Bowler Ryan Clady and others.
