The New York Rangers shut out the Nashville Predators, claiming a 3-0 win in the NHL on Monday.

Henrik Lundqvist made 31 saves and Kevin Hayes finished with a goal and an assist at Madison Square Garden.

The Predators have now failed to score in three consecutive games, leading to a three-match losing run.

Rick Nash and Derek Stepan also scored for the Rangers, who are clear atop the Metropolitan Division.

The Boston Bruins extended their winning streak to three games with a 4-3 shoot-out victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Bruins goaltender Tuukka Rask stopped 39 shots, but his team coughed up 2-0 and 3-2 leads.

But David Krejci scored the only goal in the shoot-out to keep the Bruins' run going.

Braden Holtby made 33 saves and Dmitry Orlov scored as the Washington Capitals edged the Edmonton Oilers 1-0.

A pair of third-period goals helped the St Louis Blues rally past the Buffalo Sabres 2-1.

The Los Angeles Kings enjoyed a 3-1 win over the Florida Panthers and the Colorado Avalanche scored three third-period goals to beat the Winnipeg Jets 4-1.
