Brett Hundley waited until day three of the NFL Draft to hear his name called, but could hardly be going to be a better place to develop.

The Green Bay Packers have more insurance should Aaron Rodgers get injured next season after trading up to take quarterback Brett Hundley on the third day of the NFL draft.

Hundley joins the Packers after three years at UCLA and had been touted as a day-two pick, but will now get to learn from one of the game's best in Rodgers after being taken in the fifth round.

Another player to slide was Boise State running back Jay Ajayi, who eventually went to the Miami Dolphins in the fifth.

London-born Ajayi put up 3,796 rushing yards and 55 touchdowns in his college career, although he did enter the draft with concerns over a knee injury.

While that duo both fulfilled their dream of being drafted, LSU offensive lineman La'el Collins was not selected after he was reportedly questioned as part of an investigation into the murder of his ex-girlfriend.

Collins, who had been expected to go in the first round, is not a suspect in the investigation. He is now an undrafted free agent but is not expected to sign with a team until his situation is resolved.

The Arizona Cardinals owned the 256th and last pick in the draft, and used it to pick Louisville tight end Gerald Christian, earning him this year's 'Mr Irrelevant' tag.
