According to a report by TechnologyTimes, the Osun State government has launched a new technology empowerment scheme called Osun Youth Empowerment Scheme-Technology (OYES - TECH), which is aimed at job creation through ICT.
The scheme is a 6-month programme which was inaugurated by the state governor, Rauf Aregbesola, in 2011.
So far, the programme has 10 training centres across the state, which gives training on various sections such as; Basics of Computer System, Computer Software Application, Computer Hardware, Computer Networking, Mobile Phone Software, Basic Electronics, Mobile Phone Hardware and Entrepreneurship Studies.
Furthermore, the state government also disclosed that at the completion of training, successful trainees will have various engagement opportunities which includes; direct employment in private organisations, employment into various governmental initiatives, as well as opportunities to be self-employed through the provision of first start-up capital by the government.
