Daddy Freeze explains how he met Hushpuppi, says nothing was suspicious about him when they met [VIDEO]
Barely 24 hours after Nigerians criticized Daddy Freeze for promoting and ‘dining’ with Hushpuppi, a Nigerian Instagram celebrity who was recently arrested in the United Arab Emirates for internet fraud, the broadcaster has replied his critics.
On Thursday, June 26, 2020, the Dubai Police released a documentary detailing how Hushpuppi was tracked and arrested.
Shortly after the video was released, another video in which Daddy Freeze hung out with the Instagram Celebrity at his house in Dubai surfaced on Twitter.
In the video, Daddy Freeze was heard saying “Hushpuppi’s driver earns N700,000 month while you that abuse him on social media are doing houseboy work and earn N35,000 a month."
Daddy Freeze, who is famous for his incessant attacks on pastors, immediately became the number one trending topic on Twitter Nigeria, as many Nigerians criticized him for allegedly dining with a ‘fraudster’.
Reacting to the criticism, Daddy Freeze in a 17 minute video published on his Youtube channel on Friday, June 26, 2020, explained how he met Hushpuppi and why he was in his house in Dubai.
“My attention has been drawn to a lot of stuff said online regarding my relationship with Hushpuppi and I’m here to address it. I shouldn’t normally but I can see that it’s creating a lot of misconceptions and nonsense,” he said.
“I went to Dubai in December 2017, It was an Infinix Phone launch and I was one of the guests. One of the days, I was in my hotel room, I tweeted and he (Hushpuppi) reached out to me and we hooked up. We had dinner and talked about social media influencing, trolls and nothing else”.
Daddy Freeze explained further that he didn’t know that Hushpuppi was into internet fraud because the Instagram celebrity told him he is a social media influencer.
He said, “He told me then that he was an influencer. I went back to Nigeria, we keep in touch like I keep in touch with a lot of people.
He maintained that he would not have known Hushpuppi is a 'criminal' because there was nothing suspicious about him while he was with him in Dubai.
“While we were driving, he got calls from Gucci, he got calls from Versace, and he got calls from LV all wanting to host him. He said he was an influencer. While I was there, there was nothing suspicious.
“He didn’t receive calls from hackers. I didn’t meet him at a crime scene. I met him at the Burberry VIP Lounge that was open to exclusive members and his house. The interview was shot in those places."
