Former Aviation Minister Femi Fani-Kayode has raised alarm over a gruesome terrorist attack in Zamfara State, where a 79-year-old Islamic cleric and his family were abducted.

In a post shared via his official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Wednesday, May 14, Fani-Kayode alleged that the terrorists murdered the cleric and roasted alive his two-year-old child even after receiving an ₦11 million ransom for their release.

“The terrorists demand 11 million naira for their release, which was paid. Instead of releasing the cleric and his family, the terrorists murder him and roast alive his two-year-old baby,” he wrote.

He added that the wife and remaining children are still being held captive.

Describing the act as "barbaric and condemnable," Fani-Kayode went on to raise serious concerns about the evolving capabilities of insurgent groups in Nigeria.

“The terrorists are now using Israeli and Ukrainian drones to attack our military formations in Borno and Yobe states and they are killing our soldiers,” he said.

He lamented the growing threat and called on the Federal Government to act decisively.

“O Lord, how much longer must we bear this relentless evil and great pain?” he asked.

Fani-Kayode urged the government to “crush the terrorists and take measures against their foreign backers,” including sealing borders, deporting illegal immigrants, and empowering the military.

He also pointed fingers at unnamed political figures, alleging some are secretly sponsoring terrorist groups.
