During the announcement in Beijing, he called on the government to provide the relevant help because of the numerous benefits of self driving cars.
"There are multiple benefits to [autonomous driving] cars. That is why governments need to put in place the legislation to allow AD cars onto the streets as soon as possible. The car industry cannot do it all by itself. We need governmental help," he said.
Volvo's first public test of its self-driving technology will be carried out in Sweden in 2017, then China.
