5 things you should know about President Obama's new home
President Obama has gotten a new house.
This new post-White House property has a lot of interesting facts.
Here are five things to know about this new property.
1. It is on the high side: DailyMail reports that it costs $4.3 million. However, Realtor.com estimates the property's value at $6 million, or around $22,000, per month.
2. It is a leased property: The Obamas are renting, not buying. Reports say this is because they might relocate after their daughter, Sasha, finishes high school in 2018.
3. It is quite big: This property sits on a half-acre land. This 8,200 square feet house has nine bedrooms and nine bathrooms.
4. This new house has a rich history: According to Realtor.com, this property was built in 1928 by a real estate developer, F. Moran McConihe, who also served as a consultant under PresidentDwight D. Eisenhower. Since then, the property has been owned by a lot of influential personalities including Joe Lockhart, a former press secretary and senior adviser to former, PresidentBill Clinton.
5. The Obamas will have enough room for the mother-in-law: Michelle Obama’s mother, Marian Robinson, has been living in the White House. So, it only makes sense that she moves with them into this new house, which fortunately has an “au pair suite”.
