New Orleans Pelicans coach Monty Williams said the noise at Oracle Arena - home of the Golden State Warriors - is "out of hand".

Golden State's Oracle Arena is loud regardless of when the Warriors are in town, but when it's NBA play-off time, the fans decked out in bright yellow take it up a notch so much so New Orleans Pelicans coach Monty Williams is calling foul.

Williams questioned the legality of the noise at the Arena following Saturday's 106-99 loss to the Warriors in Game One of their Western Conference first-round series.

"I'm not so sure that the decibel level is legal there, and I'm serious," Williams told reporters on Monday.

"They've done studies on that. Being on the competition committee, there's got to be something to that because it does get a little out of hand."

Williams is not calling for an investigation into the noise level, a la the NFL's Atlanta Falcons, however, he is merely perplexed. He actually went on to praise the arena and its atmosphere.

"I've talked about it for years, they've got some of the best fans in the league here, and they show up early," Williams said."The music before the game, they're playing old-school music, and it's right above your locker room. And you're like, 'These people are crazy, man. This is pretty cool.' So I'm sure it has an effect, but after a few minutes it's just basketball."

In the Pelicans' first-up loss, Anthony Davis scored 35 points, but admitted the noise in the arena made his first career play-off game tense.

"My first play-off experience, it was pretty hectic. So much going on, it was so loud I couldn't hear my teammates, my coaches," Davis said.

"We started off bad as a team and picked it up as a team when we all got calm."
