The St Louis Cardinals opened their series against the Washington Nationals with a come-from-behind 8-5 win in MLB on Monday.

Down by two heading to the bottom of the seventh, the Cardinals rallied to draw level via RBI singles from Stephen Piscotty and Jhonny Peralta " before Jason Heyward's go-ahead, two-run double.

The Houston Astros were led to victory yet again by Dallas Keuchel (16-6), as they downed the Seattle Mariners 8-3, the New York Mets had only four hits but were 3-1 winners over the Philadelphia Phillies, the Boston Red Sox edged the New York Yankees 4-3, the Cleveland Indians made it six straight wins with a 4-2 result over the Toronto Blue Jays, and the Tampa Bay Rays are within 3.5 games of an American League wildcard after a 6-3 victory against the Baltimore Orioles.

The Oakland Athletics scored 11 times off nine hits in their 11-5 win over the Los Angeles Angels, while the Los Angeles Dodgers took until after 00:30 local time on Tuesday to walk off 5-4 against the San Francisco Giants after 14 innings.
