Big Little Lies season 2 will premiere on HBO on June 9 at 9 p.m. According to the network, the season will follow the so-called "Monterey Five" as they "continue to explore the malignancy of lies, the durability of friendships, the fragility of marriage and, of course, the vicious ferocity of sound parenting. Multiple characters will be dealing with Perrys death, and the prospect of moving past a life-altering event."

The season will have seven episodes.

All of the main actresses from season one will be back-Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman , Shailene Woodley, Laura Dern, and Zo Kravitz-along with Adam Scott, James Tupper, and Jeffrey Nordling. Witherspoon and Kidman will also return as executive producers.

One new addition to the cast is Meryl Streep . The actress will play the mother of Alexander Skarsgrd's deceased character Perry, making her the mother-in-law of Nicole Kidman's character (Celeste). Crystal Fox will also join the crew as Bonnie's (Zo Kravitz) mother.
