CAS Halts FIFA's Move To Ban Nigeria, Pends Giwa Removal

FIFA set a September 8 deadline for Giwa to step down whilst Maigari took over

Giwa did not take it lightly, especially after he was denied access to the Super Eagles on match day against South Africa

He proceeded to the Court of Arbitration which has now halted FIFA’s decision, leaving Nigerian football in more derision.

The Court of Arbitration in Sports(CAS) have queried world football governing FIFA, on Nigeria.

According to reports, CAS has ordered status quo ante in the NFF leadership tussle pending determination of the case filed by Obinna Ogba, Yahaya Adams and five other state Football Association chairmen.

This means Giwa, who had boasted that only CAS can remove him from office, will remain as 'NFF president' until the final decision - which will be binding on all parties - is reached by CAS.

The eight FA chairmen had on Friday, dragged FIFA to CAS over the threat to suspend Nigeria on Monday, if Chris Giwa remained in office.

In a letter of notice to the world football ruling, CAS gave FIFA till 12.00 noon Swiss time on Wednesday to explain why it would sanction Nigeria.

Giwa's group have reportedly appointed Prince Bola Ajibola as their arbitrator.
