As Muslims all over the world observe the Ramadan fast, the Muslim Students Society of Nigeria (MSSN), Usman Danfodiyo University, Sokoto (UDUS) chapter is giving free Iftar to partakers daily.
Speaking with Student Pulse, Comrade Abdulbaqi Jari Katsina, a student of the institution and former Publicity Secretary MSSN UDUS said giving out free food during the Ramadan fast has been a tradition.
"It is the tradition of the society each year during Ramadan, to give free fast breaking food daily," he said.
Non-students are also allowed to benefit from the free food which is cooked "by the female members of the society as part of their effort and sacrifice in the month."
"Though the service was instituted mainly for the benefit of students, but non students as well do receive the service," Jari told Student Pulse.
Iftar refers to the evening meal eaten by Muslims when they break their Ramadan fast at the time of sunset before Maghrib prayer.
In Islam, Ramadan is a month of charity and showing love and care.
