The flags of France and STX were lowered and the US and Royal Caribbean flags were raised during the ceremony, while the flag of the Bahamas, where the ship will be registered, also was raised.

Harmony of the Seas is expected to hold nearly 100 more passengers at double occupancy, and it's total capacity will be well over 6,000 people, not including crew.

The ship which is designed for vacationers who love big, bustling mega-resorts, features a giant, multi-deck water slide area; a first for Royal Caribbean and has a Bionic Bar where the drinks are served by robot bartenders.

Other distinct features of the giant ship include a private suites-only restaurant and a full-service Suite Sun Zone sun deck.
