Coach of the Elephants of Cote d'Ivoire, Herve Renard who led them to the African Nations Cup title earlier in the year, has agreed to join Lique 1 club, Lille.
Lille on Tuesday, May 19 announced that current coach, Rene Girard will be leaving after the final game of this season.
Under Girad, the club have gone on a run of unimpressive results, notably suffering a 6-1 heavy defeat away at Paris Saint-Germain.
Lille currently sits eighth in Lique 1 on 53 points, which means that they will miss out on European football next season.
According to several reports, the two time AFCON winning coach has agreed to take charge of Lille on a three-year-contract.
“It’s 99 percent done. A three-year deal has been reached by Renard and the club, but he has details to work out with Ivory Coast. And nothing will be signed before the final game of the season,” a source close to situation is quoted to say by.
The 46-year-old could be recalled had an unsuccessful stint with then Ligue 1 club Sochaux, getting relegated to the Lique 2 in the 2013-2014 season.
