Gerard Butler to return as Mike Banning in 2nd sequel

"Angel Has Fallen" which kicks off production in first half of 2017, will focus on Banning as he becomes the target of a terrorist attack.

The actor will return as the lead U.S. Secret Service agent assigned to head the U.S. Presidential detail in the movie which will be produced by Alan Siegel, Mark Gill, John Thompson, Matt O'Toole alongside Butler.

In "London Has Fallen," U.S. Secret Service agent Mike Banning sprung into action when terrorists attacked London during the funeral of the British prime minister.

"Angel Has Fallen" follows Antonie Fuqua's 2013 "Olympus Has Fallen," which grossed $161 million worldwide. Its 2016 sequel "London Has Fallen," rakes in $195 million globally.
