"Growing Pains" actor passes away

The actor and father of Robin Thickie had a heart attack and was taken to Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead on  Tuesday, December 13, 2016.

Born on March 1, 1947, the actor was a Canadian actor, songwriter, and game and talk show host. He was known for his role as Jason Seaver, the father on the ABC television series "Growing Pains."

According to his son, the late actor was playing hockey with his 19-year-old son, Carter Thicke, when he suffered the heart attack.

“I saw him a few days ago and told him how much I loved and respected him,” Thicke told Los Angeles Newspaper. “The good thing was that he was beloved and he had closure," he added.

The late Alan had cameos in productions including "How I Met Your Mother" and "Fuller House."
