Ogodogu who is based in Accra, was sentenced to 10 months in prison with hard labour for posing as Majid and soliciting for funds on Facebook to bury his 'late mother' who passed on a few weeks back.

A USA based Nigerian woman who goes by the name Ikay, and a staunch fan of Majid, fell for Ogodogu's scam and thinking it was her favourite actor that solicited for the funds, sent the scammer some money amounting to thousands of dollars.

But his luck ran out when he kept making requests from the woman till she ran into the real Majid Michel in the United States during a recent visit and accused him of making incessant requests even after she must have sent him some money.

Michel, feeling embarrassed, told the woman he never made any request to anyone. To nab the impostor, the woman and the real Majid decided to play along and with the help of the Ghanaian police, Ogodogu was arrested when he went to receive another round of money purportedly sent by Ikay, on the 15 of November, 2014.
