He is that famous Brazil fan we see always supporting his country, no matter the competition nor the location.

The man whose photo of him crying while holding the replica of the World Cup trophy after Germany trashed host Brazil in the 2014 World Cup went viral.

That man is dead.

The iconic Brazil fan passed away on Wednesday, September 16 at the age of 60 following a long battle with cancer.

Fernandes quit his job in 199o and with the permission of his wife, dedicated his life to supporting Brazil football teams.

The 60-year-old has been to  seven World Cups and visited more than 60 countries during his time as a Brazil super fan.
