Coach of Nigeria’s second tier make team, the Flying Eagles has released striker Kelechi Iheanacho to join premier league club Manchester City on pre-season training.
Another Flying Eagle Chidiebere Nwakali is also released to the premiership champions.
The release of the players to their professional club-side will not affect their participation in the AYC 2015 qualifiers agiainst Lesotho on August 16.
The team’s secretary Aliyu Auwal said in a statement that: “Iheanacho and Nwakali have been excused to join Manchester City for their pre-season training this weekend. They will rejoin us a week to our AYC qualifier against Lesotho next month.”
The two players signed for Man City after their victorious display at last year’s FIFA U-17 championship held in the UAE.
Meanwhile FC Porto Nigeria U-20 youngster Chidera Eze will not be involved in the next month’s qualifier against Lesotho as the Portuguese club have enlisted him in the team’s pre-season training.
An unnamed official of the team confirmed his absence: ''Eze is ruled out of the qualifiers against Lesotho as he will be involved with his club in pre-season training.”
The player was involved in the team’s last match against Tanzania which they won 5-1 and was part of the successful 2013 U-17 team.
