McCullum was one of five New Zealand players in the team, with fellow opening batsman Martin Guptill, all-rounder Corey Anderson, spinner Daniel Vettori and swing bowler Trent Boult making the XI.

But although Australia defeated New Zealand by seven wickets in Sunday's final, only Mitchell Starc, Glenn Maxwell and Steven Smith were selected.

South Africa are represented by captain AB de Villiers and paceman Morne Morkel, while Sri Lanka's Kumar Sangakkara was picked at number three in the batting order.

Zimbabwe's Brendan Taylor was named 12th man.
