Veteran midfielder weds tennis star, Ivanovic in Venice

Germany international midfielder, Bastian Schweinsteiger and his partner and tennis star, Ana Ivanovic have tied the knot at a wedding ceremony in Venice.

Immediately after the Euros, Schweinsteiger and his tennis star, Ivanovic who have been dating since September last 2014 got married.

The wedding comes a week after Schweinsteiger and his Germany international teammates were knocked out of got just concluded Euro 2016 by host, France.

For his big day, the Manchester United midfielder chose to don a dapper navy suit while Ivanovic looked elegant in a white dress.

The couple was all smiles as they were pictured as they left Venice City Hall-also known as the Palazzo Cavalli -hand in hand.

Ivanovic's parents, Mirsolav and Dragana were at the wedding. Schweinsteiger's father, Alfred, and older brother, Tobias, were also in attendance.

31-year-old midfielder and Ivanovic on Monday, July 11 travelled to Venice by boat ahead of the wedding.

The couple was seen relaxing and enjoying the view at the back of the boat. They had travelled to Venice by private jet from Munich with close friends and family.

Schweinsteiger and Ivanonic had told their friends to keep the dates from July 11 to 13 for their wedding ceremony.

Bayern Munich president Uli Hoeness, Germany coach Joachim Low, Thomas Muller, tennis star Angelique Kerber and Andy Murray are all expected to attend the wedding.
