Arsenal FC coach, Arsene Wenger, has opened up on why he did not sign West Ham United FC midfielder, Dimitri Payet.
Wenger, who is known to sometime pass on signing a player for flimsy reasons explained that he felt Payet had a lot of 'ups and downs'.
He said, “He was a top talent, always, but had periods of being up and down.
“I’ve looked at him many times. I’ve known him for a long time. He played at Saint-Etienne and we watched him many times.
“I think he has all the attributes to be a top player, which he is, but he’s 29 years old already. He’s matured a lot and come back into the national team, which shows he was more consistent.”
Wenger will be leading his Arsenal side to face West Ham at Upton Park on Saturday, April 9, 2016 in anticipation of a win.
He will be hoping to mount more pressure on Premier League leaders, Leicester FC, who have been the surprise of the season.
