After a prolific season where he scored 16 goals and contributed a further four assists, the dutch international seems to be primed for a move away from Villareal.

Premier League debut

After joining in a £15m move from Club Brugge, Danjuma played only a single season of Premier League football with Eddie Howe’s Bournemouth.

Unfortunately for the gifted winger, he spent the better part of the season sidelined with two separate injuries.

Danjuma went on to only play 14 games that season, and unfortunately, the campaign ended in relegation. After adjusting to the pace of the English game, Danjuma then went on to light up the EFL Championship, scoring 18 goals and recording seven (7) assists.

A triumphant return

After his electric season in the Championship, Danjuma earned himself a £22m move to Villareal, signing a five-year deal to play under former Arsenal boss Unai Emery.

Since his move to La Liga, Danjuma has flourished and become a key component for Villareal, teaming up with Gerard Moreno, Super Eagles winger Samuel Chukwueze, and others to form one of the most potent attacks in the Spanish top flight.

Danjuma was also instrumental in Villareal securing an unlikely Champions League semi-final spot, scoring six goals and one assist in 11 Champions League appearances last season.

With his performances in Europe, it is no surprise that the Lagos born winger is linked with big-money moves away from Villareal. Danjuma himself admitted this while speaking to the Dutch press, revealing that as an ambitious player, he is always looking to advance his career.

“I was informed that Liverpool was following me closely. I have never had contact with clubs or anything like that during the season - I always know about the situation after the season. I will never lie and I think it’s a bad quality if you are not ambitious.

“If a club came along that offered me a higher platform to play on sport-wise, I would always have to consider it.” Danjuma told Dutch publication Ziggo.

With Liverpool preparing for life after Sadio Mane and Manchester United perennially looking to flex their financial might, it would be interesting to see where the talented winger ends up next season.
