“You must understand that when you return here at the end of March you will receive a substantial prison sentence,” the judge informed Johnson in court.

“You can say goodbye to your daughter. A prison sentence will mean you will not see her for some time.”

Police arrested the former Manchester City player in March and was hit with a four-count charge that include sexual activity with a 15-year-old girl and one of grooming.

After initially denying all four charges, the 28-year-old at a court hearing last month admitted a charge of sexual activity with a child and a charge of grooming.

He however denied two other charges of sexual activity with an underage girl but pleaded guilty to one count of sexual activity with a child.

After several weeks of trial, the 28-year-old was found guilty of sexually touching a minor.

Johnson and his girlfriend welcomed a baby together weeks before his arrest in March 2015 and Flounders has stood by him all through his trials.

The England winger admitted grooming the girl and kissing her as they sat in the front seats of his black Range Rover Sport on January 30 last year. He denied the 'passionate kiss' led to anything further.

He has since been fired by Sunderland and dropped by his kit sponsors, Adidas.
