Death Toll Now 84, 17 South Africans Missing

The commissioner said forensic tests were still to be conducted to confirm identities of the dead

In chat with AFP, Pretoria’s high commissioner to Nigeria, Lulu Mnguni, said the number of South Africans that died in last Friday’s collapse has risen to 84.

Lulu Mnguni told AFP, adding that the toll could rise.

Mnguni said.

The commissioner said forensic tests were still to be conducted to confirm identities of the dead.

South Africa has sent a team of 10 disaster management personnel, including doctors to help in the search.It is believed that there were 349 South Africans visiting the SCOAN at the time of the crash.
