Festus Adeyemi is showing his perspective of the common Lagos traffic with his solo exhibition.
Tagged " ", it aims to show what traffic in Lagos state is really like.
The exhibition from Friday November 27 through December 11, captures all the chaos from the big, yellow buses(molue), to the smaller 'molues', to passengers disembarking at bus stops, while others struggle to get on board, to vehicles moving in all directions, mostly against traffic.
Adeyemi describes it perfectly.
“The desire to be part of the solution to this prevalent situation in Lagos State informed my present works. The traffic gridlock or what is popularly called ‘go slow’ is a known challenge to the Lagos landscape. Though, Lagos state government has attempted to inject some measures to correct the situation, however, the efforts have not yielded the desired result."
“ therefore, is geared towards lending a voice to showcase the stress being encountered daily by the residents. This is done through the execution of mixed media and acrylic painting works that synthesize its paradigm from transportation and its attendant problems. My recent Post-Graduate exposure in Coventry University, United Kingdom, really assisted in this direction."
