Criticisms have trailed the choice of the stadium as Super Eagles home ground following their .

Reports emerged after the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying loss that the NFF have moved the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier against South Africa to Port Harcourt.

The General Secretary of the NFF, Mohammed Sanusi has however denied the reports.

“We have not change venue of Super Eagles matches from Uyo to any other venue. I have read reports but I tell you that the NFF did not take such decision. For now, Uyo remains home for the Super Eagles,” Sanusi told .

“If we decide to change the venue for Eagles home games, it will be communicated to the media, CAF and FIFA.

“For all I know we have not changed venue. Uyo has been good to us and we cannot because we lost to South Africa run away from there.”

Sanusi further expressed confidence that the Super Eagles will bounce back from the loss to South Africa and go ahead and qualify for the 2019 AFCON.

Nigeria will host Cameroon in August 2017 in a 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier.
