Tiote, an ex-Ivory Coast international played for the likes of Newcastle United, Anderlecht and Twente.

The 30-year-old midfielder collapsed during training and was immediately rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

BBC reporter Tim Hague confirmed the news on Twitter writing; "BREAKING: Ex @NUFC midfielder Cheick Tioté has collapsed during training with Beijing Enterprises and has subsequently died. Aged 30.”

Demba Ba, who played with Tiote also took to Twitter to react to the news; "may Allah gives grant you Jannah brother Tiote," Ba wrote.
